Suffrage cartoon, Lady J, Mrs Toady and Widow Smith

Suffrage cartoon showing two women in extravagant dress talking to a widow with two children. Lady J says to the widow: ‘But, my good woman, why should you have a vote!’ Widow Smith replies: ‘Because I’ve kept the house together since my old man died, my lady.’ Lady J asks: ‘But, how would you know whom to vote for? ‘ Widow Smith replies: ‘I shall vote for the friend of us workers, my lady.’ Lady J says to Mrs Toady, her companion, with disgust: ‘Let us form an anti-suffrage league. We don’t want these sort of women to vote!’
