Vivienne is an independent academic historian, specialising in Scottish social, cultural and reading history, primarily in the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. She has a number of journal publications, and others in progress. Her most recent was a paper in Scottish Historical Review in 2012 exploring book ownership in late eighteenth century Scotland using after-death inventories. She is currently an honorary research fellow in history at the University of Dundee. She is also a lifelong Doctor Who fan.
